Vocal coach WE over. Me = tired & at some staurday point, doubtful about my abilities. Even thought concerts were no use if all I was capable of was shying away from stepping onstage. Scratch that, I did go up there and perform song. Twice. Of course I'd choosed the most difficult song so coach could pinpoint he flaws so I could move on and work on them but, when I realized stress was eating up at me and I was just standing there frozen, I just couldn't get along with it. End of song's intro -usually meaning: "go on! Singing time!"- turned into "let's get put the mike back where it was and sit down".

Sunday was much better. I realized that concert in front of 500 and a tad above people was much less intimidating and easier to "one woman show" that performing in front of 7 people you knew. But, I got real skittish (freakish?) realizing I couldn't handle or reign the tiniest ounce of stress anymore. That coming from former reporter who took endangering herself + 300% daily stress as her usual life fuel. So yeah, felt kind of not knowing who I was anymore on saturday and hugely thinking "what's the use? Am I lulling myself with a singing dream I'll never make come true?"

Ah, doubt! Sunday, I went out there and realized I was still alive after the experience and nothing bad happened. And we were all here to learn from the experience, all of it: the fall, the ups, the props, the problem points to focus on and tackle for good. And, there was a point to this late post but now, I'm not so su... Oh yeah: confidence lost and found. ;p

Shows: catching up almost over and, I'm officially lured to the Clois side of Smallville. And that only. Never thought I'd say that but Erica Durance rocks even better at Lois than Teri did. *sorry Teri* I guess it's also true for shows: a character's never as good as its next actress.

... Well, here's the thing: I'm pretty much certain one of the five's from Elvis Presley. Now, I'm also sure somehow "I won't back down" from Johnny Cash also made Gibbs's ~~top~~ 5's list. WHat do you think? When I first heard it, I instantly thought "Gibbs".

The Kibbs brain works in mysterious ways

OK so, was revamping my profile and there are coincidences like this my Kibbs brain just can't ignore.

See, Ani DiFranco's song's beens stuck in my head all day I had to include it in my lj profile. I squeezed it just before credits. I didn't realise it was under what I like to call "kibbs banner"... but which is really a Mark-Sasha one. Here's how it looks, to save you profile scrolling (*):

1. What's you favourite Kate moment?

For a long time, my favorite Kate moment was just the wink she gave Tony in "Minimum security". And, of course, all the Kate/Tony banter. Too many great scenes to list them all but:

Tony: I'm a man of action.
Kate: I'd say more like an Action figure.
Tony: Why? You wanna play with me?
Kate: As in you look good, but can't do much.
Tony: But I look good.

OK, that's an evil question. I can't only pick one favorite Kate moment. The one when she's vulnerable or makes mistake. Because they usually mean she's been too naive or trusty and she realises people took advantage of her. And she blames herself hard for it.

I'm thinking, end of "left for dead" (2.10) or that ep when she shot an innocent man and realized it in Ducky's autopsy. Gibbs's "It was suicide by cop, Kate. get over it". And she just can't.

I also like all the Kate's of Yankee White, especially "you're gonna lecture me about sleeping with people you work with?" "I guess that just made it my team". And also the fact that, she apologized to Ducky about being wrong standing to Air Force One's ME's TOD when it clearly was an erronate one.

The other one that pop's to mind, cant remember ep's name but: when Gibbs asks her to make an ex-suspected female marine come willingly to NCIS HQs. The ep with the orange mailbag and praying mantis kind of killer. Where she goes: "All you have to do is, ink up, "honey"... and your ass is back in the navy".

The "Don't you want to be happy Gibbs" scene in Chained.

Also liked "Bete noire": "(*holds nearby scalpel*) Doctor Mallard thinks you just want me to try and stab you with this.." <-- I might have gotten flimsy with the quote, but you get the idea. And of course:

Ari: I got in in a Body bag.
Kate (*smirks*): same way you're going out.

Oh yeah and "Give it back and I'll demonstrate".

And of course, Subrosa's "what is this? Victorian England?!" whole tirade.

SWAK's intro -"why do I believe that? (Gibbs never had a cold)"- and shower scene and the other shower scene in that episode whose name, number or season I can't remember. The "Outrageous" singing one. :p

But I think "See no Evil" embodies who Kate really is.

As you see, I can't really choose one Kate moment. But, if it had to come down to just one episode, I guess I'll go with "See no evil".

2. I know you're a fan of NCIS, but what other TV shows do you watch?

Bones and House. But, like you pointed out, NCIS is absolute #1. And has been for 7 seasons.

3. What did you do last Saturday?

Went WE-ing to my mum 'cause, I could feel she was very depressed and, since I was still shaken up from accident... yeah, I guess I runned to mummy (and the ocean)! *g*

4. Hot or cold?

Hot.

5. If you win the lottery, what do you do for the rest of the day after you learn of your good fortune?

I'd try to use the money to make good deeds and help people around me. Starting with family and friends. I don't think I'd change a thing about my life style... But, that would also really help in building my own business and travelling around aka visit abroad friends. :)

Well, I just discovered her because I won a CD at a commercial lottery. CD I had to choose amongst a few. And I picked her "live from New-Orleans, 2003". It's absolutely fantastic. Like Brass meets blues with a jazzy-Aretha or Nina Simone-y voice... The impact, I suspect, will run deep. especially on the singing techie side. Plus, It's just the kind of music you put on to keep you company and unwind in a retro atmosphere. Close your eyes, you're really in Louisiana.

When did you first get into 2?
While preparing Cocaine by Eric Clapton. Was looking for some his live performance on a well known video site and I came across Eric's "Crossroads" live with John Mayer and, when I heard him perform, I swear I thought "this guy's the next Eric Clapton". So... had to listen to more and buy a live album.

How did you get into 3?
A DJ friend dedicated one of her song to me and... I have to admit, it got me really curious. Especially since I'm a country junkie and Martina is the country equivalent of Celine Dion. Only much better, imho. She's also a wonderful person, but that's just my POV.

What is your favorite song by 4?
La Parisienne. It just speaks to me.

Sadly zero.

I think I just got myself my own rockband

I've got a foot outside the door and should really go but... I'm gonna sing Ride by Martina Mc Bride --> YAY & wins, first group agreed! And voice coach says it really fits me.

And, second group I'm with? Well, we had a late rehearsal yesterday. 3rd one together but first one without music coach and, at the end, we chat and chat about music, singing and whatever and one of the guitarist goes: "I like our little group. We're a rare blend but we're good together, no? PLus, we made good progress in just 3 weeks, it's amazing".

To set the picture, this group's into what I flag "oldies". Mainly rock. But also Blues. Speaking of, and to give you an idea, the next covers we're gonna concert are: Wild world by Cat Stevens, Horse with no name by America, Come together by The Beatles, Angel of Harlem by U2, You give love a bad name by Bon Jovi & possibly Old Love by Eric Clapton... I let you guess which 2 songs I tossed in and they agreed on. ;p

PLus we age rate from mid 20's to Mid 50's which means ecclectic but complementary music tastes and interests. Thing is, they've been playing together for 3 years and I've been there for, like, 3 weeks, on group one's drummer's invitation. So, they're trying to build up a new group. And then, another guy went: "So, Carole? What'd you say to officially be our lead singer?"

"Er... I really don't know if it's a good Id.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I'd love to! OK, where do I sign?!!

Not that I'm gonna make any money out of it but, it makes me feel great aka good to tackle those lingering wintery bluesy feelings. Plus, it forces me to voice & memory work and go out on a regular basis. Because, nothing much to do here in autumn & winter otherwise. To change from daily routine and connect with ppl, that is. The company is all for music, very work dedicated, I love the emulation (is that an english word?)

Speaking of, I finally bought myself THE Rolls Royce of professional mikes: the Shure SM58. Just tested on yesterday's rehearsal and it's just amazing what you can do with this.

But that's not what originally motivated today's post. Discovery of another female country singer did. She reminds me a bit of Carrie Underwood, voice and style wise. Name's Miranda Lambert and I find her Gunpowder and lead very Kate fitting. Go KTers!:p

Pulled out the guns on appartments problems and, it's funny how the sole mention of "my lawyer" and "trial" can speed up the fixing process.

My letter to the mayor is about to be answered. See, 9 months of drunk to nearly dead students partying in our street got on my nerves and those of fellow owners in the building. So, as member of our building's owners board, I had to take a stand, go and see who, on the local political and institutional scene I should take my request to. Turns out, since I sent it, local newspaper (I swear I didn't contact them) did a full 5 pages report on the exact same troubles. And my neighbourhood isn't the only one suffering from it. Which meand, other city's buildings board members also asked the mayor what his intentions were on the matter. I'm thinking creating a group. So we would have more leverage if authorities still keep up with the "we've know and brainstormed about the problem for years" but don't do much else.
